In 1955, Boris Yeltsin earned a civil engineering degree from Ural Kirov Polytechnic Institute. The
theme of his degree paper was "Television Tower." Before entering politics, Yeltsin worked as a
foreman, construction site superintendent, chief superintendent, and chief engineer. In 1965, he
became the head of Sverdlovsk House-Building Combine.
