LUKE DROZD GIG POSTER EXHIBITION, LONDON

image

UK gig poster lad, Luke Drozd, is putting on a show of 13 years of screen printed gig posters. That’s a lot of poster, more than 70 apparently. It should be a goodun. Here’s the blurb:

Friday 12th - Sunday 14th May 2017
91 Peckham High Street
London, SE15 5RS

Opening event: Friday 12th May, 6 - 9pm
Exhibition continues Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May 12-6pm

For the last 13 years Luke Drozd has been designing posters. Mostly for bands and musicians, sometimes for art events or comedians, but always posters. Many of these were made as limited edition screen prints; part advert, part artefact.

This exhibition looks back over that body of work, exhibiting this archive of around 70+ screen printed posters together for the first time. A mid-career grand folly that includes work for the likes of Adam Buxton / Adam & Joe, Andrew Bird, Belle & Sebastian, The Black Keys, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Dinosaur Jr, Graham Coxon, The Handsome Family, The Melvins, Michael Rother, The National, New Order, Spoon, Stewart Lee, St. Vincent, Tortoise, Queens of the Stone Age, Yo La Tengo and many more.

This exhibition is generously supported by British Underground, Awesome Merchandise, Northern Monk Brewery and UK Poster Association.

QUARTERMASS BY STAG & SERPENT

image

It’s been a while since we at UKPA HQ let out a genuine ‘Woah!’ upon seeing a print BUT as big fans of both Quartermass & the Pit and the work of Stag and Serpent, this bashed our socks right up to our knees, as the saying goes. Here’s the details on the print and how to grab one via London based Flood Gallery:

The Flood Gallery are releasing my poster for the 1967 British film version of Quatermass & The Pit. This was originally commissioned a good while back but fell into into the void until surfacing now just in time for either a) the films 50th anniversary or b) the end of humanity. (cue nervous laughter…)

-20 x 29.75", 2 colours on Cougar Natural Paper.
-Regular numbered edition of 50. £45.

-Variant numbered edition of 10 on silver foil. £60.

-Both prints come with signed certificate of authenticity

On sale Thursday 9th February at 5pm UK via thefloodgallery.com

With that in mind, it’s lovely to see there is a screen printed bit of Adam & Joe merch now in the wilds courtesy of Luke Drozd. It’s the official print for their two shows last December at the BFI in London and it’s jam-packed with references to their comedy history.
