About Us

In 1971, Don Ankerman and Dr. Richard Large founded A & L Laboratories in Memphis, Tennessee to serve the analytical needs of agricultural clients. It was their commitment to providing quality analytical services, that resulted in an expansion that includes several independently owned laboratories serving the analytical needs of agriculture and industry across the nation.

A & L Western Laboratories was established in September 1979 through the acquisition of an existing laboratory in Modesto, California. Operations were moved to a larger facility and services expanded. By the fall of 1987, A & L Western had expanded its staff from 3 to 14 employees and plans were being developed for a new laboratory to facilitate future needs. In July 1988, A & L Western moved to its newly completed laboratory. February of 1996 marked the establishment of A & L Western’s Portland Oregon office to serve the needs of our northwestern clients.
